Onward and Upward AXIS' 30th Anniversary Oakland Home Season

Join AXIS Dance Company for its 2017 Oakland Home Season 'Onward & Upward', running from October 26th-29th at the Malonga Casquelourd Center for the Arts.

AXIS Dance Company celebrates its 30th anniversary with the premiere of 'Radical Impact', a commissioned work by newly appointed Artistic Director Marc Brew. Created in collaboration with Composer JooWan Kim, Artistic Director of Oakland-based Hip-Hop Orchestra Ensemble Mik Nawooj, Brew's work comes alive with Kim's original score for live string quartet. 'Radical Impact' explores what it means to be human through music and movement, investigating themes around  identity. The work draws on each dancers unique experiences and how their stories can be told through the medium of dance.

'Onward & Upward' features Company Dancers James Bowen, Lani Dickinson, Scotty Hardwig, Carina Ho, Yuko Monden, and Dwayne Scheuneman.

Join the Board of Directors

AXIS is seeking ambassadors of physically-integrated dance. Ever want to be an ambassador of dance and disability within your community? Ever desire to effect change in making dance accessible to everyone regardless of physical ability? AXIS offers a unique opportunity for individuals to help spread the word and gain visibility and national support for our work, and for this rare dance form through membership on our Board.

Previous Board or other relevant experience is very helpful. Staff will meet with interested candidates so they can feel informed of who AXIS is and what we do.

Contact  and view the AXIS Board Membership Guide for more information.
